The McCain "suspension" which resulted in all of one(if that) day of no ads being run and zero days of no campaigning is about as contrived as an encore at a rock show.

That said, I'm thinking tonight's debate should be good for many lulz. Yes, I'm rooting for Obama, if nothing else because his delivery is reminiscent of The Rock. That and homeboy is fixing to give me a thousand bucks next year. Well, there are a bunch more reasons, pretty serious ones, but I really don't feel like going into that.

Politics are fun in a trainwreck sorta way; I'm really more interested in music these days, both the playing and playback thereof. Been taking guitar lessons, paid for in food and beer. Going to gut and upgrade my PRS SE, throwing US parts in and getting crazy with a soldering iron; hopefully it'll get somewhere near the level of good-sounding-ness my SG is at - switching the bridge pickup from its current kinda scoopy sounding self to something that pushes more midrange will probably help.

On the "playback" front, we're going to be refitting the living room's audio setup, ditching the 9-year-old Magnavox shelf system for a pair of Klipsch WF-35 floorstanding speakers and a Denon DRA-397 stereo receiver. 5.1 does no good when everything you're putting through it is 2-channel, and if you're only using two channels, make 'em two really good channels for the price of 5 okay ones.

Once that's in place we can stop running everything through the TV into a mixer - six inputs with seven sources if you count the mixer as an additional source, which it would be in case of karaoke, so we run the PS2, Dreamcast and Wii through the switching box we've got chilling somewhere. Rock Band is going to sound freakin AWESOME.
  • Dammit... You're making want to come back to MSP just to play Rock Band over your sound system! ;)
    • Ha! Well, at least the exchange rate is REALLY in your favor these days...
